Hoyas Finish 10th at Eastern Sprints
Georgetown men's crew participated in the 61st Eastern Sprints Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. on Sunday, May 21, 2006.
The heavyweight and lightweight varsity eights both finished 10th overall in their respective events. In the heavy eight, less than five seconds separated the top-five finishers in the petite final with Syracuse winning at 6:20.68 and Georgetown placing fourth at 6:24.63. GU was also fourth in the petites in the varsity lightweight eight and the freshman heavyweight eight.
The Hoyas qualified for the grand final in one event and the petite final in four others. In the freshman lightweight eight, Georgetown qualified for the grand final where they finished sixth.
Georgetown's best finish in the petite finals was a second place showing in the second varsity lightweight eight. They crossed in 6:30.96, just over four seconds behind Rutgers.
The Hoyas won the third level final in the second varsity eight race, edging Columbia in a two boat race.
