Women's Heavyweight Crew Coach Jimmy King Resigns

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University Head Women's Crew Coach Jimmy King announced that he will resign from his position effective June 30, it was announced today.

King completed his seventh year with the Hoyas crew program this season. He came to Georgetown in 1999 to oversee both the heavyweight and lightweight women's programs and has guided the women's heavyweight team since 2004.

"I wish my very best to the team and the programs at Georgetown," King said. "Although the racing results that I had hoped for have not materialized in the last few years, a tremendous amount of effort and commitment has been put forth by myself and team. The time for a change was right, for me and for Georgetown."

"We appreciate Jimmy's efforts during his time at Georgetown," Director of Athletics Bernard Muir said. "Our rowing programs have a strong history and we are confident that the Hoyas can continue that tradition. We wish Jimmy our best in his future endeavors."

A search for a new coach will begin immediately.

IRA National Championships May 31- June 2 The men's will be competing in the IRA National Championship (Hwt./Lwt.) that will run from May 31-June 2 in Camden, N.J. The women will be participating in the IRA Regatta (Lwt.) on June 1-2 in Cherry Hills, N.J.
